Associate Attorney

Eckert Byrne LLC, an estate planning law firm based in Cambridge, Massachusetts is seeking a full time Associate Attorney. Our firm focuses on building lasting relationships with our clients and being their trusted advisor for life. We are looking for a talented, experienced, energetic and caring Estate Planning Associate Attorney to join our team helping our high-achieving, high-net-worth clients.  Our clients are people we care about a lot, and we need to find the right person to join our growing team.

About You: You are experienced and comfortable creating & reviewing estate plans, preparing the necessary documents to fund the trust and align client’s assets with their estate plan, as well as meeting with clients and their advisors to build lasting relationships.  Primary Job Duties Include: 
– Manage Probate and Trust Administration process; keep status reports current;
– Prepare and review of estate planning and trust funding documents to ensure that the documents are appropriately drafted to meet the planning needs and recommendations for clients
– Conduct, review and document signing appointments with clients
– Review and Conduct annual maintenance process for our trust based clients
– Respond to any client phone calls or e-mails
– Keep detailed notes of all meetings and phone calls and ensure that notes are maintained inside the client file
– Interact with paralegal and other team members in a cordial and professional manner
– Any other projects as assigned
Requirements: MA licensed attorney; Minimum of 3-8 years expertise in the area of Estate Planning and Probate and Trust Administration. Knowledge of income, gift, and estate tax laws; Notary Public; Must be willing to complete a short work-preferences questionnaire, results are shared with you. This is a full time position available immediately, but there is flexibility if someone prefers part/flex time and meets all the requirements. Compensation is based on experience, and includes excellent benefits. Our office is closed on major holidays and we offer paid vacation time and paid holidays after a 90-day trial period.

Part-Time File Clerk

Eckert Byrne LLC, an estate planning law firm based in Cambridge, Massachusetts is seeking a part-time File Clerk. Our firm focus is on building lasting relationships with our clients and being their trusted advisor for life. Your role is to serve as a file clerk to the attorneys & staff in the firm and be an integral part of our team. We are looking for a conscientious and detail-oriented individual to work in our fast-paced office.

About You:
You have outstanding organizational skills and are comfortable processing high volumes of paperwork. We are a Mac-based office so extensive previous experience using them is ideal. You understand that a law firm handles confidential information and can abide by the ethical requirements of the position. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded, educated individual eager to accomplish the first project. Show us you’re up to the challenge by putting together a knock-our-socks-off cover letter and resume package. We are looking for someone who can commit to 15-20 hours a week ($15/hour). This position may become full-time salaried. Preference will be given to a candidate who has experience working in a legal / financial setting.  This position requires extreme attention to detail; organizational skills; ability to multitask and work on short term and long term projects simultaneously; a minimum of 2-3 years in an office setting required. College degree is preferred. Must be willing to complete a short work preference assessment/questionnaire.
Primary Job Duties Include:
– providing general clerical support to the team including mailing, scanning, copying & filing
– processing high volumes of paperwork with careful attention to detail
– establishing and/or developing firm processes to maximize productivity
– maintaining up to date client information and files
– working independently or within a team to complete ongoing projects
– prepare and modify documents including correspondence, cover letters, engagement letters, memos and/or emails
– scheduling travel and making reservations
